BIOS 2019 Annual Fellowship Application
Applications are invited for the British Indian Orthopaedic Society (BIOS) Senior and Junior Fellowship Programme for the Year 2019. BIOS as a part of its Educational Programme, has set up two weeks annual Fellowships, open to Orthopaedic Surgeons practicing in India.
Senior Travelling Fellowship (Open to Orthopaedic surgeons with more than 5 years’ experience after post-graduation) – 2 positions
Junior Travelling Fellowship (Open to Orthopaedic surgeons with less than 5 years’ experience after post-graduation) – 2 positions
The selection is based on academic achievements, professional standing and the overall contribution to Orthopaedics and Trauma of the candidate.
Last date of application is 31 st January 2019. The Education Secretary will send letter of invitation to successful candidates by 15th March 2019. Letter of visa support will be sent by Education secretary once the invitation has been accepted by the Fellow.
FELLOWSHIP BURSARY
Junior BIOS Fellows: BIOS will pay £1,500 as Fellowship Bursary. BIOS will provide complimentary registration at the annual BIOS meeting.
Senior BIOS Fellows: BIOS will pay £1,500 as Fellowship Bursary. British Orthopaedic Association (BOA) will provide complimentary registration (President of BIOS to liaise) for annual BOA meeting.
All fellows have to arrange their own Accommodation and travel. All sundry expenses including visa fees and other arrangements will be borne by the fellows.
Bursary will be paid by bank transfer within 30 days of submission of the fellowship report to the educational secretary BIOS.
PRESENTATION DURING FELLOWSHIP
Junior Fellows are expected to submit their abstract for BIOS annual meeting. If their abstract is selected for presentation by the Education committee, they will get a chance to do a presentation. Selection of papers is by open merit only.
BIOS is unable to take any responsibility for Senior Fellows to do a presentation at the British Orthopaedic Association (BOA) annual meeting.

BIOS-BOFAS 2019 Fellowship
BIOS-BOFAS 2019 Fellowship
November 2019 – Hosted in Leicester & Nottingham, UK
Applications are invited for the first joint British Indian Orthopaedic Society (BIOS) – British Orthopaedic Foot Ankle Society (BOFAS) travelling Fellowship Programme for the Year 2019. BIOS and BOFAS as their part of Educational Programme, have set up a two weeks annual Fellowship, open to Orthopaedic Surgeons practicing in India.
FELLOWSHIP REQUIREMENTS
- Orthopaedic Surgeon from India, who have minimum of five years of experience, beyond graduation in Orthopaedics
- The candidate should have a proven interest to gain further training in Foot and Ankle surgery
SELECTION PROCESS & TIMELINE
The selection is based on academic achievements, professional standing and the overall contribution to Orthopaedics and Trauma (in particular Foot and Ankle surgery) of the candidate.
Last date of application is 31 st January 2019. The successful candidate would be notified by 15th March 2019. Letter of visa support will be sent by Education secretary of BIOS once the invitation has been accepted by the Fellow.
FELLOWSHIP DETAILS
The travelling Fellow from India would spend two weeks in UK. The fellow would spend the first seven working days at University Hospitals Leicester (04/11/19 to 12/11/19). The fellow would then join the annual meeting of British Orthopaedic Foot and Ankle Society (BOFAS) from 13th to 15th November 2019 at Nottingham.
FELLOWSHIP BURSARY
The successful candidate will be provided with a travel Bursary of £1000 by BIOS. BOFAS will provide free registration at the BOFAS annual meeting and welcome the fellow to the Society Dinner.
All fellows have to arrange their own Accommodation and travel. All sundry expenses including visa fees and other arrangements will be borne by the fellows.
Bursary will be paid by bank transfer within 30 days of submission of the fellowship report to the educational secretary of BIOS.
PRESENTATION DURING FELLOWSHIP
The travelling Fellow would be expected to submit a short podium presentation at the BOFAS meeting. This will be assessed on its merits in the usual pathway by the BOFAS Scientific Committee.

SKRF-BIOS-ICS Fellowship 2019
SKRF-BIOS-ICS Fellowship
Applications are invited for a SKRF-BIOS Cartilage Fellowship sponsored by Shetty-Kim Research Foundation (SKRF- Prof A A shetty, Chairman SKRF). The fellowship will be executed by the British Indian Orthopaedic Society (BIOS) as a part of its Educational Programme.
This three-week specialist Fellowship is open to Orthopaedic Surgeons practicing in India with special interest in Cartilage repair and reconstruction. Fellows will spend 3 weeks in the UK learning various aspects of cartilage pathology and repair.

The selection is based on academic achievements, professional standing and the overall contribution to Orthopaedics and Trauma of the candidate.

Fellows may want to present a research topic at the BIOS annual meeting. They will be expected to submit the abstract via BIOS website according to the annual conference BIOSCON rules. Selection of papers is by open merit only.
