Aravind Desai is a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon at Northern Lincolnshire and Goole NHS Foundation Trust, UK. He is an Upper Limb surgeon with special interest in Shoulder and Elbow surgery. He has completed his Orthopaedic training both in India and in Northern Deanery including an Upper Limb fellowship at Wrightington, UK. He is a Hon Sr Lecturer at both Sheffield and Hull Yorkshire Medical Schools. He is a Regional Surgical Advisor (RSA) for Royal College of Surgeons – Edinburgh. He is also the Foundation Training Programme Director for the Yorkshire region. He has been recently appointed to BOA Trauma exchange group. Mr Desai has published several articles and book chapters and has keen academic interest. He has been re-elected as BIOS -UK Executive committee member for the second term and has also been appointed for the BIOS-UK Research committee.

Kartik works as a Speciality Doctor in Trauma and Orthopaedics at Southport and Ormskirk Hospitals, Mersey and West Lancashire Teaching NHS Trust. He has been conferred the title of Honorary Professor at Apollo Hospitals Educational and Research Foundation (AHERF) for his contribution to international teaching, training, Academic Publishing and Research Scholarship. He has a prominent Global Research Profile; being on the list that represents the top 2% of Scientists in Orthopaedic Surgery in the world released by Stanford University on 10.10.2022. He is a member of the RCS Edinburgh Research, Grants & Fellowship Committee and the Société Internationale de Chirurgie Orthopédique et de Traumatologie (SICOT) Research and Mentorship Committee. He has a strong publication portfolio; being an Author of 200+ Index, peer-reviewed articles, 160+ PubMed with over 3500 citations to date. He is currently a Deputy Editor at the Journal of Clinical Orthopaedics and Trauma (JCOT) and an Associate Editor at the Journal of Orthopaedics (JOO), Elsevier journals.

British Indian Orthopaedic Society (BIOS) is pleased to announce the creation of its Research Committee (BIOSRC) in July 2023. The committee will further the BIOS vision of encouraging research amongst orthopaedic trainees and orthopaedic Surgeons in the UK.

- Supporting research through awarding grants.
- Facilitating surveys of the BIOS membership.
- Abstract reviews for both the British Orthopaedic Association (BOA) and BIOS annual scientific meetings.
- Award of prizes for the best podium and poster presentations at the annual scientific meeting.
- Provide support in finishing scientific papers for award winning podium presentations.
- Liaison with National bodies such as the BOA, RCSEng, RCSEd, NICE
